About Us
Our Story
Welcome to Suya Power House — where every bite carries the bold, smoky, soul-warming flavors of West Africa, right here in Missouri City, Texas.
Rooted in West African Tradition
Suya is more than just grilled meat. It's a cultural experience — the sizzle of skewers over open flame, the intoxicating aroma of yaji spice filling the air, the laughter and community that gather around the grill. Growing up, these flavors were woven into the fabric of everyday life. From street corners in Lagos to family celebrations across West Africa, suya has always been the food that brings people together.
We brought that tradition to Texas.
Why We Started Suya Power House
Suya Power House was born out of a deep love for authentic West African cuisine and a desire to share it with our community. We noticed that while Houston and the surrounding areas have a vibrant and growing West African community, truly authentic suya — made the right way, with the right spices — was hard to find. We set out to change that.
Our mission is simple: to serve food that tastes like home. Whether you grew up eating suya on the streets of Abuja, or you're discovering it for the very first time, we want every meal to feel like a celebration.
What Makes Our Food Authentic
Authenticity isn't just a word we use — it's the standard we hold ourselves to every single day. Our suya is prepared using traditional West African spice blends, including the signature yaji — a carefully balanced mix of ground, ginger, paprika, and other secret spices sourced with intention. Our Jollof Rice is slow-cooked the way it's meant to be: rich, smoky, and deeply flavorful. Our Tilapia and Plantain are prepared with the same care and respect for the original recipes.
No shortcuts. No compromises. Just real, honest, West African cooking.
Serving Missouri City & the Houston Community
We are proud to be part of the Missouri City and greater Houston West African community. This community is our inspiration, our support system, and our home. We are committed to being a place where West Africans can taste the flavors of home, and where everyone else can discover the richness of our culinary heritage.
We offer local pickup for your everyday cravings and full catering services for events, celebrations, weddings, corporate gatherings, and everything in between. If you're planning an event and want to give your guests an unforgettable culinary experience, we'd love to bring the flavors of West Africa to your table.
Come Taste the Difference
At Suya Power House, food is love. It's culture. It's community. We pour our heritage into every skewer, every pot of jollof, every plate we serve — and we can't wait to share it with you.
