Honey Gardens Propolis Spray — 1 oz | Natural Throat & Immune Support

Bee propolis is a resinous substance bees collect primarily from poplar and pine tree buds and use to seal and protect their hives — and its antimicrobial properties have been documented since ancient Egypt. The primary active compound in temperate-climate propolis is CAPE (caffeic acid phenethyl ester), a prenylated polyphenol with multiple documented mechanisms: CAPE is a potent inhibitor of NF-κB (the master inflammatory transcription factor), suppresses 5-lipoxygenase (reducing leukotriene production in mucous membranes), and has direct antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria — most relevantly Streptococcus pyogenes, the predominant bacterial cause of sore throat. Propolis also contains pinocembrin and artepillin C, flavonoids with broad-spectrum antifungal and antibacterial activity. Honey Gardens' formula pairs propolis with raw honey (glucose oxidase enzyme that generates H₂O₂ on contact — antimicrobial without systemic absorption), echinacea (alkamides that modulate CB2 endocannabinoid receptors in immune cells), and peppermint oil (menthol activates TRPM8 cold-sensitive receptors — producing the cooling/numbing sensation associated with throat relief). Honey Gardens has maintained sustainable apiaries since 1978. 1 fl oz spray bottle.

Key Ingredients & Mechanisms

  • Propolis / CAPE (NF-κB + 5-LOX Inhibition + Gram-Positive Antimicrobial): Caffeic acid phenethyl ester inhibits NF-κB and 5-lipoxygenase — reducing mucosal inflammation; CAPE and pinocembrin have direct antimicrobial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes (primary throat pathogen) and other gram-positive bacteria
  • Raw Honey (Glucose Oxidase → H₂O₂ Antimicrobial): Enzyme-generated hydrogen peroxide provides sustained, localized antimicrobial activity in throat tissue without systemic effects
  • Echinacea (CB2 Receptor Modulation): Alkamides in echinacea bind CB2 endocannabinoid receptors on immune cells, modulating macrophage and NK cell activity
  • Peppermint Oil (TRPM8 / Menthol Soothing): Menthol activates TRPM8 cold-sensitive receptors — producing a cooling/numbing sensation that provides immediate throat comfort
  • Honey Gardens (est. 1978) | Sustainable Raw Apiaries | 1 fl oz Spray
